The Annapurna region is one of Nepal’s most iconic trekking destinations. This legendary region took the spotlight in 1950 when Mount Annapurna I (8,091 meters) became the first 8,000-meter peak to be climbed by a French expedition led by Maurice Herzog. Shortly after, in 1977, the Annapurna Circuit was officially opened to trekkers.
Nestled in central Nepal, the Annapurna region offers a network of trails that cater to trekkers of all levels. There are multiple classic and shorter routes that offer diverse experiences from subtropical forests to alpine meadows and Tibetan plateaus. Throughout the journey, you are surrounded by towering peaks including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare (Fishtail), which dominate the skyline, creating unforgettable panoramas.
Beyond the landscapes, the region invites trekkers to experience its vibrant culture. You will pass through villages inhabited by Gurung, Magar, and Thakali communities. From sunrise views over the Himalayas to serene evenings under star-lit skies, trekking in the Annapurna region is a transformative adventure filled with awe and wonder.
